The proposed renaming implies it has competion or the public will have a choice. Does that mean insurance companies will be allowed to sell across state lines? That the policies we buy won't be forced to include "coverage" for things we don't want like hair plugs?

Further, the talk about states being able to "opt out" raises serious questions. Specifically, how will the states be penalized if they choose to opt out? Do they lose some portion of federal funding for mandated Medicare/Medicaid, education, highway funds, etc.? Will states that choose to opt out be forced to cover people from other states (which take the plan) who travel there (under the guise of interstate commerce and/or recognizing and honoring agreements from other states)?

Is someone going to ask Pelosi these and related questions?

Where is the main stream media? Is the fourth estate in foreclosure? The only way politicians can get away with such drivel is for the press to be seen and not heard. Their job is to question and ferret out the details. Now Nancy if you haven't read the bill how do you know whats in it and how do you know how much it will cost and how do you where the money is going to come from? Now Nancy if you add a whole bunch of people and don't add doctors and nurses and hospitals and other health care workers who is going to provide the services? Now Nancy if the government can't run any number of other agencies how can it possibly run healthcare? Now Nancy why is it that the only people who can truly opt out will be in Congress? Now Nancy if you force people to buy healthcare how does this not hurt poor people who have trouble feeding their families? Now Nancy how can we have competition if the government sets all the rules and has an endless supply of money? Now Nancy when will you wake up and realize that the American people don't want the government telling their doctors what the most cost effective way of treating them is? Now Nancy I guess the real question is when will you wake up?

I heard this sound byte on the Limbaugh show this morning. Why doesn't anyone ask either of these two liberal morons that if they want more "competition" why not simply allow insurance companies to peddle their policies across state lines?? There are about 1300 or so insurance companies selling health insurance policies. Why would the addition of just one more "company", in the form of the U.S. government, significantly add to the competitive nature of the business? If these companies could compete across state lines there would be competition in the capitalist model. Nasty Pelosi and her acolytes think they're fooling the people. Guess again Auntie Nan.

Thank God for Joe Lieberman! As a conservative, I disagree with Sen. Lieberman on many issues, however, I am willing to give credit where it is due. Mr. Lieberman's courageous stance today against the radical left's so-called "public option" was an answer to prayer. Thanks go to Joe for putting his country ahead of partisan politics.
