I simply do not believe that one man is responsible for putting the entire country in the dumpster. Obama will not flush this country down the toilet by himself...he'll have a lot of help. We've already seen how half of this country's educated citizens have so intelligently discerned the facts of the president elect and cast their vote for a man they know nothing about.
Bush had LOTS of help, too. Yes, let's look objectively at the people Bush worked with in Washington, where and how those people were educated, who shaped their beliefs, and how diligently they worked throughout their careers to undermine, corrupt, and cheat the American people. Cheating is very popular in public institutions today at every level. Students who cheat don't see anything wrong with it. Yes, this is the next generation of Washington's statesmen.
Let's be very honest. Nothing in this country is going to change until parents take a stand (which will involve personal sacrifice) to make sure that their children are not only learning morals and values; but also learning that other people (besides themselves) exist.
I understand that sacrifice because I'm living it every day at home with my own children, teaching and raising them in a conservative environment. Training starts in the informative years of a child's development, not when they graduate from college. We can continue to blame Bush (because he is perfect and had wonderfully moral, responsible, individuals working along beside him) or we can take responsibility for changing the direction of this country ourselves. Education is everything. History tells us that it is.
As long as conservatives allow their children to think and grow in a liberal environment where one cannot speak the truth or disagree, we will not survive, nor will we have a choice.
George W. Bush may not be remebered as a statesman, but that is no reason for him not to be considered capable of the job considering the circumstances under which he served.
I'll just reserve judgement until all the facts are available.

(Sorry, "Reply" link has stopped working.)
Well, your expanded comments put your previous ones in a different light.
I agree w/much of what you say, but the importance of underlining GWB *as an example of a person who failed as President* is exactly highlighted by many of your statements. I don't think you see my point.
The cultural slide is there. And the repair needs to start in our homes -- yes. You say "people Bush worked with..." question: did he or did he not choose his advisors, helpers, hangers-on, etc? Did he decide to tell those who spoke against amnesty to get bent and classify them as bigots - w/o even considering their arguments, or the bailout? Both cases these "ignorant citizens" said no. The 1st time focused the electorate and caused the 2006 bloodbath. The 2nd, mere *days* prior to the election setup Dishonest John to cut himself off at the knees - so when JM showed what was suspected, that he was a poser, it so angered the voters we now have an il duce as PEOTUS.
Of course, if the citizens were better informed the antics of Liberals would fail. But a leader Leads and the *bulk* of that is *teaching!* When did GWB bother to set the record straight? No, he was cowardly, and so let those who hate his land define what he stood for, and what is unforgivable, beyond (if "beyond" is possible) the Constitutional damage is the damage to Bush's base: the Constitutionalist part of the Conservative movement. We now not only have to educate the public on WHY Conservatism = Freedom, we have to overcome the stigma Bush's fear of the Bully Pulpit has tarred us with.
So, yes. As far as it goes we need to start in our homes, I've always believed that. That doesn't change the fact that GWB's cowardly actions to domestic enemies has dug us an exceedingly deep hole. The MSM gave a constant drumbeat to mark the tempo of a march to Socalism. The Dems sang cadience. Bush did nothing to counter it.

Let's imagine then, how easy it must have been for Bush to question the integrity and morality of any of these good old folks in Washington (as upright and honest as they all are), or gain any kind of support or respect for restraining these morons in the senate and the house who pretended every time to be his buddy until they got what they wanted and turned on him. Talk about living the past 8 years in hell.
He gave up... just like families all over the U.S. who are told that their parental rights do not exist when their children enter the classroom. Do they fight by finding an alternative, such as home/private education? No. They walk away, shrug their shoulders, roll their eyes (much like GW , and hope and pray for "Change." Well, we are certainly getting change. Conservatives are doing exactly the same thing GWB did in Washington; only "nothing" is somehow acceptable on the other side of the fence.
"No child left behind" is going to have a whole new meaning in 2009.
oops, accidently hit post, wanted to add this:
When 2 people say a 3rd is guilty and the 3 guy just stands there say "new tone! new tone!" what are people who are being taxed to within an inch of their lives to think? And they haven't time for self-education because they (1) don't know the info exists -- a reason why such a large part of leadership *is* teaching... (2) both parents need to work to make ends meet... because they don't know how to be self sufficient. (nb: something The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has always taught, by the way...).
Speaking of which, what did our leader advise us after 9-11? Go out & spend. Or, the various bills he's pushed - the purpose of which was a thinly hidden attempt to buy votes - spend money we lacked, taking the chance for helping our neighbor from us to put in the hands of unfeeling politicrats? Not to fix problems already existent, such as Social Security, or the effective 40% taxation, no! Just take your enemy's anti-Constitutional ideas, shine them up & pass them off as your own.
In the last 2yrs, we've floated $8 trillion in unbacked greenbacks. All that's needed is the slightest push, and we'll have hyper-inflation. I hope you own a wheelbarrow, because you'll need it to buy bread.
IF Bush had stood firm on any 2 conservative promises he'd made, instead of chasing his enemies' adoration -- which he was never going to get, anyway, our situation would be vastly different.
PS: let me add, in ref. to the heat in the original 2 comments I made in response to your post: I am sorry for my anger. You see, GWB is a somewhat tender spot with me. I was fooled twice.
"That doesn't change the fact that GWB's cowardly actions to domestic enemies has dug us an exceedingly deep hole. The MSM gave a constant drumbeat to mark the tempo of a march to Socalism. The Dems sang cadience. Bush did nothing to counter it."
I agree. We are in a very deep hole. With so many Americans marching to the tempo of Socialism, and even singing along...what does that tell you about the players (political leaders) who will be next in line for their seats in Congress? It tells me that we have a very slim chance of electing anyone with a backbone to stand up and fight for the American people because from day 1, they were educated in an extremely liberalist (all about me) environment. Every single one of them will cave under pressure.
Are we so naive to believe that our government is going to change the institutions that breed these kinds of statesmen and women? Absolutely not. For if we breed honesty, integrity, morality, courage and honor, and a healthy fear of God, we have to end the corruption in government. We've been seeing the leftest, socialist view in the classroom for decades and conservatives have done nothing except turn a blind eye, curse the system, and then curse the leaders who were educated in that system.
Conservative parent's know it's poison, yet, they expect their children to miraculously grow up to be leaders who can stand firm and stand alone under pressure, when in fact, the most important years of their young lives, the ones that shaped and molded them into adults, have all been about going along with the crowd!
GW is just hoping that the investigation into where all this money TRULY went, and how much HW had to do with it, doesn't come to light. These uncollateralized loans were called on, in just the same way that they were leading into the third riech. Call me a kook, but the almost media blackout of any REAL news in lieu of PROPOGANDIST, emotion driven idealistic reporting, is eerily similar to the thirties in Germany.
The Tom Cruise movie "Valkyrie" currently playing is about this era, and a recent documentary based on the real history of this era, reports just this type of propogandist emotion driven media. The shift in policies of not just the Left, but also the Right, "Neo-Cons", indicate influence of a SOCIALISTIC driving force behind the political scene. I believe this to be decendants of these same Nazis from WWII, and we are being soft sold a bill of goods... I PRAY we all realize it before it's too late...

Mr. Anderson,
I enjoyed your article.
However, I am concerned (and hopeful) that you did not notice SECOND definition in Urban Dictionary for "Deer in the Headlights" (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Deer+in+Headlights). It is vulgar, pornographic and repulsive.
Hopefully, you did NOT intend to include this "reference" in your excellent article. And, hopefully, the article can be updated to remove the Urban Dictionary link.
Sincerely,
