Re: Dershowitz's Weak Analysis of Obama's Support for Israel

Lauri - great piece. I read the Dershowitz column yesterday. I was struck immediately by Dershowitz's first paragraph. Doesn't something sound strange about this?

"Many American supporters of Israel who voted for Barack Obama now suspect they may have been victims of a bait and switch. Jewish Americans voted overwhelmingly for Mr. Obama over John McCain in part because the Obama campaign went to great lengths to assure these voters that a President Obama would be supportive of Israel. This despite his friendships with rabidly anti-Israel characters like Rev. Jeremiah Wright and historian Rashid Khalidi."

Jewish voters picked Obama ("overwhelmingly") over McCain in part because of Obama's support for Israel? The article seems suspicious from the beginning. I don't think Obama's overwhelming Jewish supporters had Israel high on the list for some reason. Or maybe they did but for reasons other than its continued existence.

Keep up the good work.
